It was a high school band. The Russian Revolution was a sweeping event. Horrible, exciting, depressing, energizing, deadly, and at the time hopeful. It is a period filled with vivid characters: the weak-willed Nicholas II, his strong-willed wife. Alexandra, battling for the surival of their sick son, the evil and menacing monk, Gregory Rasputin who dominated Alexandra. There was a host of politicians from socialists to democrats to would-be dictator generals. There were all kinds of revolutionaries and some really great music! At Grove City College, the "Internationale" could be heard blarring from my classroom before class! Yes! Grove City..where Paul teaches. The Revolution was an exciting time. Grasp the excitment!
