If you notice, Mormons all read the King James Bible to this day, so the Book of Mormon will look more like the way they think God is supposed to speak, without stopping to think that the King James Bible was translated into the common language of the day, and that language does shift over time. If he had been doing a straight up translation, it should have looked more like the works of Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Nathaniel Hawthorne, or Edgar Allan Poe, keeping in mind that he would have doing a direct translation. However, back then, King James was the most common edition of the Bible, so that may have been what most people expected scripture to look like.
