In the 1930s, with the world mired in a depression, Europe began persecuting its Jews because they weren't suffering as badly as people of other faiths. Hitler, rising to power in Germany, observed this resentment and capitalized on it. The horrible truth about Europe's treatment of their Jews is that many Jews were rounded up and deported from Germany long before the war began in September of 1939, but the other European nations resented and rejected these refugees instead of helping them. Eventually Germany's persecution of Jews led to their attempt to dominate the world as "the master race." Today Islam is no identical to Hitler's Germany in these attitudes.
