"liberalism and fascism are merely different branches of the same tree."
John; the term "fascist" is inherently right-wing, so it is therefore contradictory to utilize it in such a fashion. Liberalism is closer to communism, radicalism and socialism, politically-speaking. Fascism is closer to conservatism. Fascism is based upon conservatism, keeping the system the way it is, and/or returning to a more "rightious", authoritarian or nationalist way. Liberalism wishes to challenge the status quo; its adherents feel that the system is unjust and wish to challenge it. I am merely challenging the use of a word; in this case, "fascism."
