Fruits and vegetables are wonderful, they are not filling, like sugar they have a short term boost.. Kids burn a lot of calories. They need food that satisfies and keeps them going. If the government is going to provide "healthy" meals (as determined by them), they need to provide "healthy" snacks between meals (protein and starch are vital & filling). 6 meals a day is better than 3 unbalanced, low energy, unsatisfying meals. .Kids are not adults, a 1000 calories may be good for an adult, active kids need at least twice that.
