First, LAUSD is not the largest school district in the USA. It is actually second behind New York City. I don't deny LAUSD has a large staff at its downtown headquarters. It is a school district which serves just under a million students. I am related to someone who works in a contract position for LAUSD in the downtown office. The job of this employee is environmental making sure property procured for the district to build new schools is safe. Given much of LA is toxic waste dump, this is a needed position. Would clarityseeker2 prefer students attend school on a site that is unsafe? Just because someone does not deal directly with students, it does not mean his/her position does not have a direct impact on students.
