I'm having trouble with the Professor Pine & the Sick Baby scenario.
There are all sorts of female professors whose sick children would have to be kept from day care and would be tempted to bring their kid to work. What are the odds that it would first occur the first day of a “Sex, Gender and Culture” class?
The kid was almost certainly a prop for the lessons she wanted to teach. It takes a village to raise a child and how handy to have so many college-age baby-sitters assembled in one classroom.
Don't complain, dear students; this should be normative behavior. Thinking otherwise just proves you're sexists - and if you don't like it, remember that I decide what your grades will be.
