Please take care to differentiate between churches as institutions and ministers as individuals. I cant speak for all denominations, but for the majority of protestants, the minister is paid a salary which is most definitely taxed as income (and if housing is provided I assume they are required to declare that as compensation as well) Whether non-profits should be entirely exempt from property taxes though, particularly if some or all of an owned property is used for commercial purposes is a separate question.
