For those interested, in July the BSA announced that it was sticking to its prohibition, which I agree with. Thus, when questioned about it, Romney's spokeperson said that his position hasn't changed on the issue. His position which he stated in 1994 was "I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what it wants to do on that issue. I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation" Thus, he does not "oppose" the BSA in the sense that he would force them to accept homosexuals. He said he supports their right to decide. So no, Romney is not wading into this just he can say he is not "anti-gay".
