Chicago parents, my wife and I recommend trying out www.k12.com. We love the elementary school program, the curriculum is great! [I'm learning more about Art History from my second grader than I got in college electives.] Chicago has several charter schools and academies that use it: it is a public school. It is mastery-based in K-8 so your child can work ahead if they need challenging work. It meets all State requirements and follows a national curriculum offered in over 40 states, so far. Your child has a teacher: you serve as the learning coach. If you use public school as daycare then this program is NOT for you.
