I see no reason for government to interfere with any sort of consensual relationship; nor should government sanction, certify, or promote any relationship, other than traditional marriage. Marriage is a legal framework, set up for a specific purpose (to provide family stability and a measure of social and financial security for wives who generally don't work outside of the home). As for other arrangements, no one should receive any legal or financial benefit (survivors benefits, automatic rights of inheritance, community property, insurance coverage, etc.), based on their sexual proclivities, or be subject to any legal responsibilities, other than what they contractually agree to.
