Wow, Jonah - this is shallow even for you. Since when has innovation been partisan or political? Can any political party these days claim to be innovative and the promoter of new ideas? Come on. "Politics" is so devolved (and decoupled from any notions of governance or leadership) that it no longer can claim to be a dynamic process. Pick on politicians if you wish but the effort is wasted. Nevertheless to be pragmatic investment in our infrastructure is critical. Jonah cherry picks some silly comments to critique the Pres and touts that the US is far and away doing fine (no need for old, bad ideas like folksy "alternative" energy). Yet check out (http://www.economist.com/node/18620944) for context. And yes the Economist leans right.
