It's not pandering. Romney always tries to surround himself with the most capable people, and he doesn't care where they come from. He also values people that will offer counter opinions, and that generally means he's going to end up with some diversity on this staff/cabinet. And, let's get real here, folks. In order to govern, you have to get elected. It's great to be unaffected by politics, but Johnson won't win a thing, and thus will not be able to help our dire situation. I'm OK with Mitt highlighting women from his MA staff, for example, if it means he gets to sit in the oval office and start turning our fiscal mess around.
