Actually what was said about the stimulus was "If we don't pass the stimulus, unemployment will rise above 8%. This has been twisted into "If we pass the stimulus, unemployment will not rise above 8%" Anyone who understands logic knows that a statement and its converse are not logically equivalent-- Which is probably why the statements about the stimulus were couched in that language.
