The refugees in Biblical times had to rely on the generosity of native born individuals and families, and didn't emigrate to become dependent. They couldn't do that, there was no national system of welfare for them to become dependent upon. While many illegals do come here and work hard, many others come here and do no work, content with the better living standard they get on government handouts, living in government housing, than they had back home. Many do not read, write,speak or understand English, or understand how American government works,hence are sitting ducks for any manipulative Spanish speaking politician who comes to them. This is now how it was in Biblical times.
