She won about a quarter of the vote in one of the more liberal districts in California, a notoriously liberal state, in a district where republican candidates sometimes don't even get 10% of the vote, and higher than any republican has received in the past two redistrictings. In the past half century, the only republicans to win here were quite liberal, and all were appointed to finish someone else's term, "inherited" the seat from a spouse, or switched parties, often run run against an incumbent from their own democratic party.
