I worked for Safeway in Texas when Coors beer was only available to you if you knew someone who was going to Colorado and was willing to bring some back for you. When Coors opened their first distributorship in Houston, and the beer was now readily available, we built huge end displays of cold Coors, and it never got warm before it sold. The newness soon wore off, and Coors settled in with the other brands as to how it sold. Same would be true with legalizing drugs. Once the newness wore off, sales would also drop like a rock.
