I think most coal miners know the reasons for the slight drop in domestic production. ( natural gas ) And I think most know that 2011 domestic production was higher than 2010 and 2009. And not that far off from what we have been producing since 2006. And I think they also know that exports grew by 31% in 2011. What I don't expect are that some would ever be capable of engaging in a honest discussion on this topic. Or acknowledge that it is now cheaper ( and cleaner ) to use natural gas to produce electricity. Where once we were using coal. Or that it makes total sense to reduce mercury and arsenic emissions. And yes, even CO2 emissions as well.
