Peterman, I quite agree. Mankind is not perfectable, at least not by mankind. We are created in God's image, each of us having an immortal soul & spirit, and therefore are inherently noble. However, we are also fallen creatures, and therefore inherently corrupt, like a wonderful and expensive Greek vase with a great big crack in it. God's solution is Himself--His incarnation Yeshua (God is our salvation). Progressivism proposes an alternative solution "Man is our salvation." My reaction, as I think yours is, is to step away from the impending train-wreck with our fellow "misanthropic" skeptics St. Paul and Mark Twain.
