Despite all the huffing going on, I think most cogent Americans know essentially what Akin was referring to with "legitimate" rape: It is forcible rape or statutory rape. It is NOT retroactive rape, where a woman decides the next day that she was too drunk to give consent to sexual intercourse, and files a complaint.
Regardless, the Democrats and the MSM have managed to steal the narrative of this episode, and the republicans have swallowed the distorted narrative hook, line, and sinker. Akin's position is shared by the Republican party through its platform for the last umpteen elections, and we need to defend it. You don't kill a baby because of how it came into existence.
