Rand also correctly noted that absent a coherent, rational and moral defense of our country's principles and of free market economics, neither can be sustained. Both the conservative religious defense and the practical superiority of capitalism defenses have been tried and failed. The left makes their argument on moral and compassionate grounds and succeeds. So, it's time for a change. Rand, at her most basic, holds that individuals have a right to pursue their own self-interest non-violently In other words, they have an unconditional right to exist for themselves without someone's permission: you own your life or you don't. Sounds like the Declaration of Independence to me. Otherwise, "pursuit of happinesss" means nothing.
