Most of the criticism of Mr Akin's comment are on the order of, "I don't like the idea so therefore it must be false." I don't hear anyone talking about actual evidence. I have read some discussions from doctors that stress reduces a woman's fertility. I would expect rape to be extremely stressful, to put it mildly. So it doesn't seem completely absurd to theorize that rape victims might be relatively unlikely to become pregnant. Or perhaps Mr Akin had some other physiological explanation in mind. Has anyone actually studied this, rather than just ridiculing it? What happenned to the commitment to truth and fact?
