As of 2008, 90.7% of federal prisoners, or 165,457 individuals, were incarcerated for non-violent offenses. And then you have to take the violent non-gun related offenses out of the remainder of inmates. It hardly seems like there's a correlation between the incarceration rate and gun control - that feels like quite the stretch. It really is up to the person using the gun what happens with it.
