If you are going to fix the tax code, you should include means-tested programs and make provision for retirement and medical savings accounts. Michael Tanner wrote a Townhall article showing how federal and state programs cost $20,000 for every person "in poverty". We need to get rid of those programs and incentivize people to work. Currently a family of 3 gets around $35K in benefits at 0 income. It only goes up to $45K, when they make well above that, because of lost benefits. Getting rid of 700,000 bureaucrats wouldn't hurt either.
