What would you regard as an advance in theology? The emphasis on "God is love" and the neglect of "God is holy?" The Christianity of one or two centuries ago did pretty well. In addition to preaching the Gospel it built hospitals, founded universities and led the campaign for the abolition of slavery. Just what about that do you not like?
