Erudite as always. But I'll go one further on the "roads" example. Sure, the Federal highway system literally paved the way for prosperity by creating *new* infrastructure that enabled commerce, freedom, and communication. Similar phenomenon for the Internet. However, there is plenty of "infrastructure" that is foisted on the public BY government that doesn't provide that kind of universal benefit. In CA *right now* they're approving 60-100 BILLION in expenditures for high speed rail that will NEVER pay for itself and most of the state doesn't want now that they really know the cost. Is THAT making any business more successful? NO it's shackling me, my children and probably grandchildren with an anchor. Cuts both ways Mr. President.
