College age young people usually come out of a life experience of having their needs looked after by someone else, namely their parents/guardians & the state. It is easy to extend that childhood state of dependency into adulthood. Many think growing up means just ipso facto getting privileges while not acquiring responsibilities.
Also, since they've had limited experience in being producers or in adding value to anything thru their efforts & investment, they fail to understand productivity & earning, & readily fall for the fallacy that others have income & wealth because it was "unfairly distributed" to them.
It is therefore only logical they readily fall into socialist redistributionist modes of thinking.
