For my money, I think the batting debate is not the one that should be being debated. I think the real thing to consider is the player with the greatest offensive value. This would be summed up in the category of runs scored, and the less tangible category of the ability to discombobulate the competition. And where is that category recorded? I would reply "stolen bases." When you look at these two there is only one play who stands head and shoulders above the rest: Ricky Henderson.
