A college education is and by right ought to be a luxury. Because of the "college-for-everyone" foolishness, high schools have turned into glorified prep schools. Further, as a past high school physics teacher, high schools are barely qualified to hold that moniker. US schools today are simply mills in which the student is taught that everyone wins, that self-esteem is paramount, that anyone can be anything they choose. 1. In order to win, someone has to lose. 2. The self-esteem turns into narcissism. What is paramount is an education to ensure one is capable of entering and competing in today's society. 3. You can try to be what you want, but there is no guarantee you'll get there.
