Why "English" newspapers? It should be "British" newspapers-- especially if you're talking about things that occur in Scotland! I now live in Scotland. As much as I like TownHall, the ignorance of American people (and I spent the first 40 years of my life in the US!) in regard to other countries is just astounding. "England" or "English" is not an all-encompassing word for "Britain" or "British". My Grandad was British Army during WWII. He was not "English Army". There hasn't been an English Army for hundreds of years-- and when there was, they were usually fighting Scots. Great Britain / United Kingdom is Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and England.
