A LOCKOUT initiated by the Company's Management is NOT the same thing as a STRIKE which would be initiated by the Union's Leadership. The Union offered to work while contract negotiations were on-going so no one would be affected by a work stoppage. It was ConEd's decision to prevent workers from performing their jobs by use of a LOCK-OUT. The Union is now doing informational picket duty to let people know, that they want to work, but for a fair wage. I am currently locked-out and have been for four weeks because the company I work for wants for the THIRD contract in a row for the union membership to agree to more take-aways and less raises and more employee-cost health care as they see more and more people becoming anti-union.
