I read somewhere that when a man marries, his standard of living goes up. He has a wife do to the housework, cooking, cleaning, etc. and he concentrates on his job. His WIFE's standard of living goes down. Now she's cooking/cleaning for two. When he divorces, his standard of living goes up again: He's making more money, presumably because his wife's "job" has allowed him to concentrate on doing better at work. HER standard of living goes down because now she's divorced, often with children, and she's been at home working all those years or working at a job outside the home but with the household responsibilities too. Circumstances vary, of course, but there is no such thing as EQUAL when it comes to a marriage. One partner always does more.
