Picking a winner has great rewards in the private sector. For every dollar invested, the return can be 10 times, 20 times, even 100 times the investment. (Sounds like a biblical parable.) In the public sector, every dollar invested returns only about 2 to 5 cents in political donations or maybe some help investing in some futures (aka Hillerygate) or some land next to a future interstate exit (aka Reedgate), but it is done with someone else's money. The only risk is a little bad press. The ability of the average American to judge what is good for this country is really going down to the level of a bunch of women at a discount table - grab what you can.
