My wife owns a small fast food restaurant. The current labor laws greatly inhibit hiring high school age workers. First of all they cannot touch some of the food making equipment, others they cannot clean, they cannot wash knives, they cannot operate the cash register, and the hours that they are allowed to work are limited. In addition, the minimum wage here of $8/hour makes hiring them expensive. We manage to hire a few, but have to pass most by.
