King wanted to seize bases in China and Korea in which to make it nearly complete and MacArthur claimed by Nov 1945 Japanese shipping would be negligible. Japan had converted about 2000 planes to be kamikazes, and intel showed our invading troops would have faced about 600,000 Japanese military on Kyushu on D-Day (Nov 1), and the casualty ratio was revised to between 1:2 to 1:1 based upon Okinawa experience. As my son wrote the professor, "It would have been a bloodbath."
