No, you won't be paying triple the cost of coal fired electricity, you'll pay a minimum of 5 times. That is what it costs to build & run these wind farms when you factor in the natural gas generation that must be built to back them up. For every megawatt of wind generation nameplate rating, there must be a megawatt of natural gas backup. Then you have the additional cost for the non-existent infrastructure like transmission lines & substations designed to carry the nameplate ratings of wind. Then, believe it or not, abundant natural gas is not typically found where they build the wind farm so more transmission & substation infrastructure must be built to the new natural gas backup site. All that said, don't be surprised to pay 6-7...
