I have to agree with your point, I'd just push the starting line out a lot further. Hefner and Kinsey were grotesque perverts -- well, I say "were" even though Hefner is apparently still alive; granted, it's getting difficult to tell by looking at him -- but they didn't actually light the fire, they just poured gasoline on it. IMHO the big turning point was a few centuries back, the Enlightenment. That's when the floodgates began to open to institutionalized apostasy.
