You have to get into George MacDonald, without whom Lewis would not heve been drawn to his love of other worlds and the spirit world of fantasy. I suggest "The Lady and the Fisherman" for starters. George MacDonald was as prolific as Lewis, his livelhood depended upon the spoken and written word. C. S. Lewis considers MacDonald his mentor. That was good enough for me!
