As for me, of course I was raised to be aghast at the idea of slavery. I don't need a Michael Brown to give me some slick way to undermine the righteous argument of anyone who claims that slavery was held in institutional acceptance by a huge body of the "Christian Community" at many unenlightened times. There's nothing wrong with admitting we were outside the moral fold, at one time, especially now that we are faced with fighting "human trafficking" in our own time. There's way too much at stake (pun on heretic/witch burnings, intended -- of which we have also repented) to try to weasel out of these things.
