Using social science to prove a point is not to leave out the creator's role, quite the contrary! If we can show that it is better for human health and well being to avoid sin, it endorses that the creator made us to live up to our potential - to choose what is right for us and not that being victims of our sinfulness results in the same happiness. Also, many a-religious will not listen to any argument that is "God made us that way." They can simply say, "You believe, that's fine for you."
