Odd how Daniel Mitchell smears the ideas of Rand. He says:
"But Rand seemed to think (and some Randians definitely think) that voluntary acts of charity and compassion are somehow wrong."
Either he hasn't read Rand beyond a couple of pull-quotes, or he's just mouthing the smears he hears from his friends.
Rand never said anything even close to "voluntary acts of charity and compassion are wrong."
Otherwise, he usually writes decent columns. This one is so wrong, it blows my mind.
