Saying that being a stay-at-home mother isn't real work is extremely offensive; motherhood is one of the most difficult, if not the MOST difficult job out there. However, I believe that the point Hilary Rosen was trying to make with her statement was that many women in America do not have the luxury of being able to stay at home with their children. Many women in America have to balance motherhood with work outside of the home b/c they are single parents or b/c their partner does not make enough money to support them and their children. I believe Hilary was trying to point out that Ann Romney, due to her relative wealth compared to most Americans, may be "out of touch" with the challenges that mothers who work outside of the home face.
