There normally IS a relationship between undergrad GPA and law school admission. We can bracket Mr. Obama;s Columbia GPA between 2.0 (minimum to graduate) and 3.0 (minimum to graduate with Honors - which he did not.) Since the Harvard average LSAT score is ~176 of possible 180, its hard to see how someone with a 2.99 GPA can be admitted in a 550-person class to in a top-three law school based on merit alone.
