Yes, I have "only" in my opinion, backed up by actual facts. Facts that are completely accessible to anybody to takes a little effort to look them up.

I know you won't bother looking these up anywhere, and I wouldn't encourage you to do so. Popping your little dream world might damage remains of your self-esteem.

You should have lunch with "dreadnaught" sometime and discuss strategy. Then wait until *after* you have achieved total domination over the words and deeds of your fellow man to decide which of you gets the control what can be said or done.

That's a danged good point about presidents. I never thought of it that way.

The best politician we could hope to vote for would be one who promises not to screw things up. We rarely get one like that.

My wife will say, "Oh, I just don't feel like going in to work today."

So I'll say, well DON'T. What are they gonna do, FIRE you? Tell them you've been out drinking with Patty (that's the lady who rarely shows up, but is still drawing pay).

But alas, she is too duty-bound, poor darling.

Never let it be said that everyone in the public school system is a slacker. Some are very hard-working, worth a lot more than the paltry few dollars they get. Much of the system could actually *work* if only it would operate like a private system, where under-performers can be removed.

Probably the only way that will ever happen to actually make it all private.

I'm in California. My wife has a co-worker who is perpetually drunk and shows up about once or twice per month. This has been going on for at least four or five years.

Then there was an article recently in the Los Angeles Times about how hard it is to get rid of teachers (and public employees in general), which was picked up and discussed by a local talk radio show. It is literally to the point where the administrators sometimes don't even bother. Hey, they're paid the same no matter what. Why should they break their backs to get rid of deadwood?
