Yeah, the energy-efficient and closet-sized car concept works really well over here in Germany. Drivers are more skilled only because of the training available-otherwise as soon as they get their licenses they hit the autobahn at full tilt and have some MF'ing unbelievable fatal accidents. Rarely is there an autobahn accident where people are not grievously injured.

I lived in Germany for ten years and I can tell you that when there is a wreck on the autobahn, there is a wreck on the autobahn. We're talking 20-30 cars minimum and there's usually body bags involved. Germans must spend over $2000 and about six months time to learn to drive, so it is not a cheap endeavor. While driving over there I spent as much time looking in the rear view mirror as I did watching the traffic in front of me. I could control what was in front of me, it was the guy behind me doing 120mph that scared me.

probably because most Americans no longer are accustomed to LANE DISCIPLINE. "Keep right except to pass",and "slower traffic keep right"
we have too many left-lane bandits.(LLBs)
Ever since the 55 MPH National Motor Speed Limit(NMSL),our lane discipline has faded away.
that disrupts traffic flow, makes it turbulent and much less safe.

Yep. I don't call the left lane the fast lane any more....I call it the phone lane. Seems like everybody who gets on the phone uses the left lane to avoid having to deal with merging traffic.

While all eyes were on the Republican National Convention in Tampa and Hurricane Isaac on the Gulf Coast, the White House was quietly jacking up the price of automobiles and putting future drivers at risk.

Yes, the same cast of fable-tellers who falsely accused GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney of murdering a steelworker's cancer-stricken wife is now directly imposing a draconian environmental regulation that will cost untold American lives.

On Tuesday, the administration announced that it had finalized "historic" new fuel efficiency standards. (Everything's "historic" with these narcissists, isn't it?) President Obama took a break from his historic...
