I've had multiple interactions with Military Working Dogs and their handlers here in Afghanistan. This is the FIRST I've ever heard of the pups being labeled "equipment". Lord knows they aren't treated like that. (The handlers routinely let the dogs sleep in the barracks. Against "the rules" but nobody says anything).
