Blaming video games is just as dumb as blaming the guns. I agree with many things stated in the article. I agree parenting has been replaced by mass media. BUT, I do not believe "violent" video games are to blame. I do not believe any of the "research studies" demonstrates a valid cause and effect.. Mass shootings would be everyday, multiple times per day if the millions of people play "first person shooter games" were so influenced to do so. Japan doesn't have this problem. Violence is embedded in anime and video games there. I do agree these are still not appropriate for young children. Parents are not parenting, and mental illness is not being taken seriously.

It should come as no surprise that the rate of mass shootings at schools and in other public places is increasing. The surge has nothing to do with guns, which have been widely available in the U.S. for years. Gun control laws have been increasing. Instead, there is a direct correlation between the increase in violence and the gradual degradation of morals, ethics and parenting. We are cultivating mental illness in our society.
