So then does everyone in the US have a right to have a gun, no questions asked and no restrictions? If not, what restrictions would you have, and how would you implement them?

OTOH,firearms and ammo are NOT inherently dangerous or unstable.
In storage,they threaten no one.

restrictions on rights are put on by DUE PROCESS in a COURT OF LAW.

CONVICTED felons, adjudged mentally ill and minors rightfully have their rights restricted.

WMD and explosives are inherently hazardous devices, and not true militia arms.
even mortar rounds are explosive or incendiary, explosives and rocket propellants become unstable and can explode or ignite from static discharges. the blast of fire would affect not only your home, but many of the surrounding homes too.

TX Gal,
There is a law against a felon filling out an application to buy a gun. I think something like 4 were arrested and or convicted last year out of thousands of tries. These guys go into a gun store or gun show, try to buy a gun, get turned down because they are a felon, then just go down the street or to a different table and try again. No arrest no nothing.

it is very simple

convicted criminals - no guns, they gve up the right

unstable people that wish to hurt others, how do you prove that?

Yes everyone in the US has the "right" to own a gun. A background check is fine as long as it is not used to prevent someone "JUST BECAUSE". I think it is simple. Just enforce all of the laws on the books now. Use a gun in the commission of a crime, 20 years (no parole). Pull the trigger on a gun during the commission of a crime, 30 years (no parole). Hit someone with a bullet during the commission of a crime, life (no parole). Kill someone with a gun during the commission of a crime, life in a 4x8 cell, no parole, never get out of the cell, a pill in a bottle on the shelf, to take yourself out. END OF STORY

Are there restrictions delineated in the 2nd amendment? Did the framers equivocate in their writings on the subject? NO, they were absolutely clear on WHY they put it in the constitution, why it is in the "Bill of Rights" and notice they never mentioned hunting or target shooting. Everyone has the right to own and carry until they show that they are unfit to do so. That sometimes innocents are impacted is the cost of freedom sad as it is. TO USE them to advance a communist agenda however, should cause such people to be promptly REMOVED from office as unfit to hold a public trust.

Difficulty in getting change in our country is an ongoing source of frustration. Particularly when we have huge problems facing us as we do today.

But the founders knew what they were doing setting up the checks and balances of our constitutional republic. The delicate arrangement we call freedom should never submit with ease to a charismatic demagogue or to an emotion filled crisis.

The current push for gun control is case and point. It is at a time like this that we should be grateful that changing our laws is hard to do.

Every normal and decent American wants to...
