The Tea Party in it's earliest stages may have somewhat resembled the description you gave... But by year two, and certainly by year three, the Tea Party had been hijacked and taken over by ignorant, backwoods buffoons. The same happened to the OWS attracted a stupid, ugly element that quickly overwhelmed the movement. One can't have a popular movement in America; there's just too many stupid people that will flock in and take it over.

Now, suddenly, the Tea Party is everybody’s whipping boy.

Liberals, in the wake of the election, gloat about what they see as liberalism’s return to the mainstream and good riddance to the end of the Republican “extremists.”

And, despite the spin, which never stops in Washington, it is not accidental that four prominent Tea Party congressmen have been purged from key committee posts by Speaker John Boehner.
