Chesapeake and the other small-thinking natural gas suppliers will soon be sorry that they threw one of their natural allies - coal - under the bus in a frenzy for short-term profit boost at coal's expense. When the last nail is driven into the coal industry's coffin, the environmentalist-government coalition will turn against the gas industry as the new carbon-spewing villain to be sacrificed to the "climate-change" hoax. Defending against the vicious Big Green juggernaut you need all the allies you can get, even if they are competitors.

With the increasingly likelihood that Obama's health care law will be struck down in court or repealed next Congress, the administration has been working hard to cement another dubious legacy: the destruction of the coal industry.

Obama's war on coal is stirring a lot of anger in parts of the country like West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio that have long relied on coal as an engine of prosperity.
